The Psychology of Wearables and Wearable Technology

Article is Provided by Toptal

In recent years we’ve seen new, disruptive innovations in the world of wearable technology; advances that will potentially transform life, business, and the global economy. Products like Google GlassApple Watch, and Oculus Rift promise not only to change the way we approach information, but also our long established patterns of social interaction.
Indeed, we are witnessing the advent of entirely new genre of interface mechanisms that brings with it a fundamental paradigm shift in how we view and interact with technology. Recognizing, understanding, and effectively leveraging today’s growing landscape of wearables is likely to be increasingly essential to the success of a wide array of businesses.
In this article, we discuss the ways in which effective interface design will need to adapt, in some ways dramatically, to address the new psychology of wearable technology.

Enter the Neuroscientific Approach

Cognitive neuroscience is a branch of both psychology and neuroscience, overlapping with disciplines such as physiological psychology, cognitive psychology, and neuropsychology. Cognitive neuroscience relies upon theories in cognitive science coupled with evidence from neuropsychology and computational modeling.
In the context of interface design, a neuroscientific approach is one which takes into account – or more precisely, is centered upon – the way in which users process information.
Wearables and wearable technology
The way people interact with new, not-seen-before technologies is more bounded to their cognitive processes than it is to your designer’s ability to create stunning UI. New, often unpredictable, patterns emerge any time a person is presented with a tool, a software or an action that he has never seen before.
Accordingly, rather than employing more traditional approaches (such as wireframing and so on), you will instead focus on the sole goal of your product, the end result you want the user to achieve. You will then work your way back from there, creating a journey for the user by evaluating the how to best align the user’s intuitive perception of your product and his or her interaction with the technology used. By creating mental images, you won’t need to design every step the user has to take to accomplish an action, nor you will have to evaluate every possible feature you could or couldn’t include in the product.

Google Cardboard Overview: VR On The Cheap

Imagine if you will, standing on the surface of the moon, overlooking a crater from your lunar rover, listening to mission control chatter. Or don’t. Instead of imagining it, just order a cheap Google Cardboard VR set instead, stick your phone in it, and start exploring the solar system, museums, tourist spots, coral reefs and much more. Let the Imagination Technologies GPU in your phone live up to its name and do your imagining for you.

Google Cardboard is hardly a new concept. It was unleashed on the unsuspecting geekosphere at Google I/O 2014, roughly 18 months ago. Since then, Google has tweaked the Cardboard reference design, but the concept hasn’t changed; Google Cardboard was envisioned as the cheapest Virtual Reality (VR) solution on the planet, and at this point, nothing else comes close in terms of pricing.
Google Cardboard is significantly cheaper than competing VR platforms, so why is adoption so slow?
If you keep track of tech news, you are probably aware that Oculus Rift started shipping a few days ago. The news even made it to mainstream media, and CNN interviewed a few Oculus execs, who discussed the future of Oculus and VR in general. Demand for the Rift appears to be high because the pre-order website crashed hours into the launch, which coincided with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas. The Oculus Rift is priced at $599, and you also need a $1,000-plus computer to use it properly, but the high price obviously didn’t faze the loads of consumers who pre-ordered one.
I could try to explain what makes Oculus different and why it costs so much, but that’s beside the point. It’s a product for enthusiasts and connoisseurs, people who don’t mind spending a lot of money for a great gaming user experience or for some niche professional applications. Compared to Google’s VR platform, Oculus Rift is a technological tour de force, but for the price of a single Oculus headset, you can get more than 50 prefabricated Google Cardboard headsets. Mind you, I am not talking about cardboard DIY sets, but proper headsets made out of plastic, with soft padding and a few straps to keep the contraption on your head.
Considering that you can get a Google Cardboard compatible set for $10 to $20, you’d expect that loads of people are buying them, but that’s not the case. Let’s take a closer look at Google’s platform and try to figure out what’s going on.

What's Next in Apple iPhone - What can we Expect from it?

It is really exciting to see what's new is implemented every year in iPhone by Apple and now rumors are started for the upcoming iPhone which is expected to launch this year in September. By the way, what's new is coming this year and what changes are made into iPhone are only known by Apple till now, but we can except some of listed here and also we are eagerly waiting for exact release date of new iPhone. Here we discussing about next iPhone specs rumors which are provided by PC Advisor UK.

~ According to PC Advisor UK, it is not sure what is the name of next iPhone, isn't revealed by Apple, is it iPhone 6S as previous generations of iPhones because firstly Apple released iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and now iPhone 6 (alongside the iPhone 6 Plus), so chances for next iPhone's name are as iPhone 6S but Apple can surprise us by releasing iPhone 7 this year.

~ It is also in news that this year biggest difference in iPhone 6 and next iPhone is that new iPhone is thicker then previous, just opposite from previous strategies of Apple because every year we get thinner iPhone but because of Force Touch Display, iPhone 7 is thicker from previous. Apple currently uses Force Touch in the Apple Watch and its new MacBook, New reports have suggested that the new iPhone will need to be slightly redesigned to accommodate the Force Touch display.

~ iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have big design changes, although Apple keeps approximately same design for it's iPhones but  we can expect the big changes in design this year, iPhone 7 to have a 4.7in screen (and the iPhone 7 Plus should Apple decide to launch one to have a 5.5in display), a rounded, aluminium chassis and a very slim profile. It's also likely that it'll be available in Silver, Gold and Slate Grey.
Apple could make the iPhone 7 lighter, though and stronger with use of sapphire glass and more durable liquid-metal materials.

~ In terms of specs, The iPhone 7 will have a faster processor, probably names the A9, joined by an M9 co-processor. It could boost camera improvements, as well as better battery life and new features such as wireless charging.
Interestingly, it's rumoured that Apple will finally up the iPhones RAM complement, with 2GB LPDDR4 memory.

~ There are some rumours to suggest that the iPhone 7 could have some new design features Curve Display like Samsung Galaxy Edge but it is likely to provided with another varients.

~ One of the biggest areas of improvement for the iPhone 7 could be the camera. Rumours suggested that the camera will represent the biggest camera jump in the history of the iPhone, with a two-lens system that could capture "DSLR-quality imagery," according to Daring Fireball's John Gruber.
Rumour has it the iPhone 7 camera could be up to 21-megapixels but more likely is a jump to 12MP.

~ The iPhone 7 to ship with iOS 9 installed. Apple unveiled iOS 9 at its WWDC 2015 event.

Asus ZenFone 2 Review with Specifications

In the year 2015, Asus Zenfone 2 is known for the first Smartphone which have 4 GB of RAM. Asus launches another variant in its flagship Zenfone series which is started in previous year with Zenfone 4/5/6. The All-new Zenfone 2 has a gorgeous ergonomic design and winner of the iF Design Award 2015. Zenfone 2 has incredibly-slim 3.9mm edges. This is more than an impressive engineering feat; it’s a marvel of design and ergonomics, making the Zenfone 2 incredibly comfortable to hold. The iconic ASUS concentric-circle design adorns both the front and rear key, giving a beautiful, tactile effect. This effect is achieved through precision machining that produces circles with a mere 0.13mm pitch, giving Zenfone 2 a premium look and feel. Zenfone 2 is a 5.5-inch smartphone with a body that’s as small as that of a traditional 5-inch device. This incredible engineering achievement was made possible by reducing the bezel width to the bare minimum, giving Zenfone 2 a remarkable 72% screen-to-body ratio.

Asus Zenfone 2 sports with powerful 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560/Z3580 Quad Core processor which has clock speed of 1.8/2.3 GHz and it is the world’s first smartphone with 4GB of dual-channel DDR3 RAM. Featuring LTE Cat 4+ for download speeds up to 250Mbit/s, and a 60ms touch response time, it has 6430 PowerVR 533MHz GPU. Zenfone 2 gives you power beyond your imagination. Intel Exclusive 3D Tri-Gate Transistor: First introduced by Intel in its desktop-class Ivy Bridge processors, Zenfone 2 employs the very same 22nm technology in its 64-bit processor. The Tri-Gate transistors have almost three times (3X) more surface area as compared to planar transistors, enabling more electrons to flow when it in the ‘on’ state. It also improves the transistor switching performance which increases the computing performance and decrease the power leakage. Performance Increase-37% , Power save-50 %.

Zenfone 2’s 13MP PixelMaster camera with its f/2.0-aperture lens captures stunning, high-resolution photos with zero shutter-lag. The industry-leading Low Light mode employs pixel-merging technology to capture up to 400% brighter photos at night or in low-light scenes, without the need for a flash. Backlight (Super HDR) mode lets you see clearly through daytime shadow and Super Resolution mode helps you to capture detailed image. There are many options in PixelMaster for capturing great images and also shooting FullHD videos.

Display and Battery-

Zenfone 2 is equipped with a high-resolution 1920x1080 Full HD IPS display that offers wide 178-degree viewing angles. The staggering 403ppi pixel density renders every image in eye-delighting detail. For the best clarity, brightness and touch responsiveness, Zenfone 2 incorporates exclusive ASUS TruVivid technology. This seamlessly transforms the conventional four-layer design into an innovative two-layer design, with full lamination. Fusing the cover-glass and touch-panel layers eliminates the air gap, bringing everything closer to Zenfone 2’s surface — and closer to your touch. Gorilla Glass 3 with Native Damage Resistance™ (NDR) improves damage resistance and toughness, so Zenfone 2’s display is up to three times (3X) stronger than other glass compositions. Zenfone 2 supports ASUS Glove Touch technology, so it responds to your every touch, swipe and gesture — even if you’re wearing gloves.
Zenfone 2 has 3000 mAh Li-Po battery comes with Fast Charging. ASUS BoostMaster technology is an ASUS-exclusive technology that charges the battery much faster than in traditional devices. With ZenFone 2, you can recharge your battery up to 60% of capacity in just 39 minutes.
Finally Zenfone 2 is really an awesome phone for a price tag of $300/Rs.22,999 in India for ZE551ML(4 GB RAM, 2.3 GHz). It also comes with other variants as ZE551ML with 4GB,1.8GHz/2GB,1.8GHz and ZE550ML with 2GB,1.8GHz,HD Display.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Note 3, the second sequel in a series of super-sized stylus-smitten smartphones, which is even taller, narrower and thinner than the first two of its kind. As expected, the new 5.7-inch Note not only utilizes a S-Pen but enhances its functionality and adds better hardware and components to ensure it's able to handle anything you can throw at it.
The biggest departures in Samsung's design are on the back and sides. The back cover (still removable) eschews the previous-gen's glossy plastic and replaces it with a matte leather finish, with stitching around the borders to complete the isomorphic fashion. It's more comfortable, offers a better grip and doesn't leave fingerprints.
