The Benefits Of Human Resource Management In Recruitment

As a practice for any organization or company, the five M’s of management, i.e.,

i. Manpower

ii. Money

iii. Machines

iv. Materials

v. Methods

Remember these M’s because they are crucial in the growth of your business. However, it is believed that the first M (manpower) is completely different from other M's. Manpower can manipulate the other four M's and is not easy to manage.

To manage the manpower, every organization has human resource management in place. It also manages all things related to manpower.

What is Human Resource Management?

Human resource management:

  • is the process of recruiting employees.
  • Involves the process of deploying, onboarding, managing, and training the hired employees for the organization.
  • handles structuring policies for leaves, compensation, benefits, etc.
  • enables a positive organizational culture.
  • ensures the well-being of employees.
  • ensures that the organization meets all state and central government statutory compliances.

The human resource (or HR) department of an organization handles human resource management. The HR department considers employees or manpower the most important resource. The HR also makes and implements the management policies for employees.

The role of the HR department affects all aspects of the business. The HR department has its functions to improve the employees' overall performance. It improves the working system, which later leads to the company achieving its goals.

How Does Human Resource Management Affect the Recruitment Process?

Many organizations underestimate the value of the HR department. HR professionals ensure that the company gets the most out of its hired staff. The HR department is there for collective and effective hiring. It does talent management to the group of people who will be working for the organization or company.

The HR department might end up hiring the wrong employee due to a flawed recruitment process. It will affect the other functions of human resource management and the organization.

So, the HR department is the one responsible for making sure that the hired employees are fit for the job.

What is Recruitment?

Recruitment is the process in which the organization's HR department hires the employees. HR attracts candidates for the specific job field via advertisements. The talent recruiters select the candidates with the required set of expertise. The selection is made from received job applications. The candidates are then interviewed, and then later, the best one suitable for the job is hired.

In other words, recruitment involves everything from identifying a position to filling it. Talent recruiters are the deciding body in the recruitment process. Without them, the company may end up hiring the wrong people for the job.

Larger organizations may have teams of talent recruiters. In small setups, there might be a single person responsible for recruitment in the company. Sometimes in small firms, the hiring manager may perform the role of both talent recruiter and manager.

  1. Find the education and skills required for the job.
  2. Creating a job description and advertising the job
  3. Decide what tests and questions to ask the applicant during the interview.
  4. Select the candidates after the screening of the job applications received.

Planning for Different Scenarios After Recruitment

HR also plans different scenarios that can take place during the recruitment. Here’s an example of a scenario. If the applicant has the required education but lacks the necessary skills or vice versa. Being prepared for these scenarios is a good HR management skill to adapt.

For these scenarios, HR teams in companies come up with a plan to put the applicants on the probation period. The probation period is usually a few weeks to a couple of months.

In these months, the employees are tested by giving tasks to them. If the employee can do the work properly, a formal contract is signed.

Training the Employees After Recruitment

The HR department gives the employee complete training after recruitment. In this training, the employees get the basic knowledge of what they have to do.

The company sometimes might end up hiring an employee who is not that skilled for the job. However, the HR department can improve the performance of the employees via training.

Long-Term Strategic Planning

The HR department utilizes scenario planning to improve decision-making. They make flexible plans based on proposed scenarios. It allows the organization to manage through ten or more years of disruption.

The HR department asks representatives from different departments to come up with scenarios. The scenarios should hold value for the organization in the future. The diverse voices and inputs allow the strategic planning to be effective in the long run.
