TikTok
is more than just a short video platform. It is a place of learning, educating,
being creative and even testing your knowledge. A few months ago, TikTok launched #EduTok, a challenge to
spread education and awareness amongst the people of India. Till date, over 10
million videos have been shared using the #EduTok. Through this challenge, TikTok users have created content with a
focus on education, motivation, safety, health, and wellness. And if you
thought 10 million videos was a big number, the #EduTok challenge has had over
48 billion views.
Through the #EduTok campaign, TikTok India started a series of pop-up
quizzes for its users. These quizzes focused on how to deal with everyday
situations, and how they can be tackled. The questions were straightforward and
hand either two or four options as the answer.
The quizzes were divided into sections such
as language, science, health, career, and fitness. Some of the questions were
basic such as ‘What does the B in MBA stand for?’. Other questions, however, tested your ability
to think on the go and in turn educate users on what’s the best way to deal
with certain scenarios. For example, Jia faints in office all of a sudden! What
should her co-workers do?’
These quizzes would regularly pop up on the
For You section of TikTok users, giving them
a chance to answer and directly engage with TikTok
India.
From there, a number of content creators
began sharing some general knowledge quizzes on TikTok
using the #EduTok challenge. One such
popular content creator is Aman,
shares a set of videos, each of which is a question. After every 25 questions,
he starts with a new round of questions. The difficulty of the questions
increases in ascending order.
Another TikTok
content creator Testbook,
who is one of India’s leading EduTech companies also shares quizzes with its
followers. The quizmaster asks a question, which usually focuses around current
affairs such as ‘In which city is Jantar Mantar located?’ or ‘Who is the
present Prime Minister of India?’ As you can see, the questions are easy, but
you have little time to answer them.
While FactoLunch
doesn’t do quizzes, its TikTok profile is interesting because it shares one
unique fact that adds to your general knowledge. The facts are shared in
various categories ranging from sports and going right up to space exploration.
By the way, did you know that a day on the planet Venus is longer than a year?
Well, we didn’t, but thanks to this TikTok
handle, we too learned something new today.
Another useful feature of the platform is the ability to conduct live broadcasts. The only nuance, for this, you need to have more than 1000 subscribers on the channel, if a young account does not have them, there is a life hack that will help to get more fans on TikTok.
